This April we saw the return of the Cosmopolitan Self Made Summit, in association with Tinder. This year we expanded, bringing guests two whole days chock-full of inspiring panels with incredible speakers (from the world of business to fitness, top YouTubers, plus a sprinkling of celebs).

Held in the luxurious surroundings of London’s County Hall, guests from all over the UK gathered to see keynotes from the likes of Emma Willis, Caroline Flack and body confidence campaigner Tess Holliday, interviewed by Editor-in-chief, Farrah Storr.

There were SO many panels to pick from, it was harder than trying to choose a Nando's side. Topics ranged from how to harness the power of social media (with insights from Ella Mills, Deliciously Ella, and youtube sensation Lewys Ball), how to finance your dream business (in association with Very), confessions from the front line of start-ups (with wise words from Devika Wood, Vida and Jamie Laing's Candy Kittens) and the do's and don'ts of creating a unique brand. Plus there were practical workshops on how to pitch yourself (with RADA) and a masterclass on how to turn your idea into a big bucks business.

In between all these inspirational and informative talks (and trust us, they were), guests were able to mingle and have their hair, make-up and nails seen to by the on-hand glam squads. Tresses were teased by Wella Professional, while Eylure made sure every lash in the room was on point, alongside the Jade Angel team who were providing manicures fit for any boardroom to bar situation. Givenchy beauticians had their palettes poised for make-overs and The Gypsy Shrine added a bit of sparkle to proceedings with their glitter bar.

The brainy bods at Enterprise Nation also had an advice bar for those wanting free intel on how to utilise social media to grow their online presence and the Savvy Start-Up Club ran one-to-one sessions giving business advice. With Skinny Dip providing personalised portraits for all, Candy Kittens keeping things sweet with their pop-up tuck shop and Very championing their #summitselfie booth, there was so much to get involved in!

Need some new professional headshots for work? Or want to be a Cosmopolitan Cover star? Don't worry - we had a team on hand to sort that too! Tinder's photo opportunity was packed all day with guests putting their best foot forward, finding their confidence and expressing themselves in front of the photographer.

And can we also just take a moment to appreciate how GOOD the food was too? We're talking insanely delicious chocolate puddings, healthy salads (loads of vegan options), smoothies and breakfast pastries. Hey, all that networking and harnessing brain power is hungry work.

After last years success, we gave guests the opportunity to pitch their business ideas in front of a judging panel at the Cosmopolitan Pitch Palace which was fully booked on both days (think Dragon's Den, only with the chance to win luxurious office space provided by Second Home in Shoreditch).

The event wound down with some networking drinks where guests could put all their new-found skills from the day into practice and meet like minded business babes over a glass of pink bubbles from Freixenet or a bespoke cocktail from Tinder (ft. a spicy Gin Mule and fruity Rhubarb fizz made with Slingsby Gin).
